iHome’s ZN9 alarm clock docks your Zune in something resembling style

Friday, June 6th, 2008 | News with No Comments »

Hey, props for offering up the “first clock radio for Zune” (it’s certainly not the first Zune dock), we’re all quite proud, but it looks like iHome sent in the B team for the design here. The ZN9 Dual Alarm Stereo Clock Radio for Zune actually bears a slight resemblance to an Xbox 360, other than the full-featured Zune interoperability, of course. Outside of that there’s nothing of note here that your grandma hasn’t been rocking bedside since the 80’s. The ZN9 should be available now-ish for $100.

OCZ’s DIY gaming laptop now available

Friday, June 6th, 2008 | News with No Comments »

OCZ wasn’t exactly forthcoming about pricing or release details when it announced its DIY gaming laptop last month, but it looks like those intrigued by the idea of (partly) building their own system can now get their hands on one courtesy of Buy.com, which is offering up the barebones system for $670 (after a $50 rebate). That’ll get you the base 15.4-inch laptop complete with an Intel PM965 chipset, a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics card and a DVD burner, but you’ll have to supply your own processor (any Core 2 Duo is supported), memory (up to 4GB of DDR2-667), and hard drive, not to mention an OS and other “options” like WiFi or Bluetooth.

Eee PC 901 gets unboxed and examined

Friday, June 6th, 2008 | News with No Comments »

ASUS’s new Eee PC 901 has already gone before the cameras at Computex, but if you’re the type that’s just not satisfied ’till you something unboxed you may want to head on over to Laptop Magazine, which has not only done the usual honors but provided a few initial impressions as well. On the whole, they seem to think it’s a worthwhile upgrade, with the extra keys across the top a particularly welcome addition, although they did have some slight problems with the keyboard, which they ultimately wound up prying off in order to fix. HTC Touch Diamond boot video, for your eyes only

Friday, June 6th, 2008 | News with No Comments »

For those of you who absolutely, positively can’t wait to see more of the Touch Diamond in action, the folks over at pocketnow are giving you a taste of what it’s like to hold one in your hands. Apparently, when you boot up the phone you’re greeted with a helpful video showing you how to navigate the heavily-skinned version of Windows Mobile (AKA Touch Flo 3D) that it sports. Needless to say, it’s smoother than a baby’s bottom. Not that we’d know. Video after the break in its full 640 x 480 resolution.
