Brando keeps up the silly with Bluetooth PDA stylus “headset”

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 | News with No Comments »

It looks like everybody’s source of wonderfully useless gadgets has managed to pull yet another trick out of its hat, with Brando now breaking the common sense mold once again with the so-called ” Stylus Hanging Bluetooth Headset.” Apparently targeting those that find traditional Bluetooth headsets a little too convenient, this wonder of convergence crams a full-fledged Bluetooth headset into an over-sized PDA stylus, which will let you both talk on the phone and use your PDA — just not at the same time (unless you use the earphone attachment, that is). $30 and it’s yours.

Onda adds WiFi to the VX777 PMP

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 | News with No Comments »

We rather liked Onda’s VX767 PMP when it hit the wires back in March, and it looks like the company is hard at work on a sequel with built-in WiFi. The upcoming VX777 shares most of the 767’s specs, including pretty decent video codec support and TV-out, but adds in WiFi and potentially a touchscreen. We’re not exactly certain if there’s a browser included — the leaked specs only say internet radio — but if this thing is any kind of cheap when it arrives in August we’ll certainly be intrigued.

Mobo gets rebadge happy with two new low-cost subnotes for Brazil

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 | News with No Comments »

It looks like folks in Brazil are soon going to have a few more low-cost subnote options to consider, with Mobo announcing two new but curiously familiar-looking models. That includes the Positivo Mobo (pictured above), which appears to almost certainly be a rebadge of Airis’ Kira 740 Eee PC lookalike (or a rebadge of whatever that is a rebadge of). That likelihood is further backed up by the nearly identical specs, including the usual 7-inch display, Via C7-M processor, 1.3-megapixel webcam, and built-in WiFi, although this particular model appears to come with 2GB of flash memory in place of the Kira’s standard 40GB hard drive. Set to be released alongside it is the company’s Mobo Kids laptop, which is just a straight up rebadge of Intel’s Netbook platform (a.k.a. Classmate 2), with it boasting the same Celeron M processor and presumably all the same specs seen in other incarnations like CTL’s 2go PC. Look for both of ‘em to pack the same R$999 price tag (or $590), with the Positivo Mobo hitting stores first on May 23rd and the Mobo Kids following sometime in July.

More “leaked” 3G iPhone shots hit the web

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 | News with No Comments »

For those that need to be in the know about the very latest supposedly-leaked 3G iPhone shots that hit the web this week, we’ve got you covered — but we’re not convinced, especially of the device on the right. The shots on the left do at least seem to be crafted around those supposed size and shape leaks we saw the other day though, so bonus points there for playing into another current rumor to rack up a small bit of credibility. Still, in our best Rick James voice, Photoshop’s a hell of a tool.

Iomega kicks out eGo Camo Drive: completely invisible to animals, data thieves

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 | News with No Comments »

Not sure if we missed the memo, but apparently May 7th is the unofficial day of camouflaged technology. Shortly after Mobiado revealed a rugged Camo handset for the well-to-do hunters of the world, along comes Iomega with a jungle-ready portable HDD. The $149.95 eGo Camo Drive is entirely USB powered and packs a respectable 250GB of internal storage space, a black Iomega Power Grip band, a woodland camouflage pattern and DropGuard technology to prevent disastrous consequences should you drop your drive from less than 60 inches. We always knew those gamesmen never sat in a tree stand all day without a little entertainment to keep ‘em sane.
